Food and beverage processing facilities have two non-negotiable requirements for plastic components: the material must not contaminate the product, and the component must hold up to the wear, chemical exposure, and sanitation cycles of a food production environment. Pepco Plastics manufactures food-grade plastic parts from our Alberta facility — UHMW, HDPE, and Delrin components for food processing, brewery, and beverage production operations across Western Canada.
The combination of food-contact compliance, abrasion resistance, and wash-down chemical resistance that food operations require is exactly what food-grade engineering plastics are designed for.

Food processing conveyors use food-grade UHMW wear strips, guide rails, and chain contact surfaces throughout processing lines. UHMW's low friction reduces chain wear and energy consumption, handles the wash-down cycles that food plant sanitation requires, and meets FDA food-contact standards in natural grades.
Food-grade HDPE cutting boards, work surfaces, and structural panels are standard in food processing, commercial kitchen, and butchery applications. HDPE's resistance to bacteria, knife cuts, and cleaning chemicals, combined with its FDA-compliant grades, makes it the standard specification for food-contact surfaces.
Delrin (acetal) is specified for precision mechanical components in food processing equipment — filler heads, valve components, metering parts, and precision-machined parts in filling and dosing machinery where dimensional accuracy and FDA compliance are both required.

UHMW plastic is the standard specification for food processing wear components — conveyor strips, guide rails, equipment contact surfaces, and any application where abrasion resistance and food-contact compliance are both required. Specify food-grade UHMW at inquiry; natural grades in virgin UHMW-PE meet FDA food-contact standards, and Pepco can provide material documentation on request.

HDPE is specified for food-contact structural panels, cutting surfaces, and components where abrasion resistance is not the primary driver but food-contact compliance and moisture resistance are. Food-grade HDPE is the standard for cutting board and food surface applications. HDPE resists the cleaning chemicals used in food plant sanitation protocols.

Delrin (acetal) is specified for precision food equipment components where dimensional stability, FDA compliance, and tight machining tolerances are all required. Natural Delrin meets FDA food-contact requirements and is widely used in food processing machinery.
Natural (unfilled) UHMW-PE and HDPE in virgin grades generally meet FDA 21 CFR requirements for food-contact plastics. Material certificates of compliance confirming food-contact compliance are available on request. Specify the food-contact requirement at the time of inquiry and Pepco will confirm the material grade and provide documentation as required.
